Foolish Angel Part 1
Suddenly,
chants of God’s name could be heard from afar. The man sleeping on the sidewalk
was not disturbed by it, but the wall near him opened its eyes to see where the
noise was coming from. The chants grew louder and 4 people, wearing festive
clothes and one of them carrying a Ganpati idol; could be seen walking near the
same street. All of them were chanting in chorus “Ganpati Bappa Moraya!” As the
chanters passed through the lane where the man was sleeping, the wall was
staring at them in anger. Soon the chanters passed and silence filled the
street. “Look at these people chanting God’s name for no reason. Who is this
God? None of them have seen him in reality and yet they praise him. What has he
done to make their lives better?” The Wall asked in a harsh voice. The man opened his eyes. He stood up, stretched his hands out and turned to face
The Wall. “Oh have you got up to answer my questions? You can hear me my
friend?” The Wall asked the man. The man put his pants down and relieved himself on The Wall. “STOP IT! Don’t use me as a toilet you idiot! I thought
you were going to answer my question! I thought you could hear me! Stop!” The
Wall shouted. The man unperturbed then said, “Oh God!” He then puts his pants
on and sat on the sidewalk. “Is that your God? I must say it really is
terrible to call that a God!” The Wall said. The man was unperturbed by The
Wall’s voice. “I knew you couldn’t hear me. But who will answer my questions
about God?” The Wall thought. “Maybe I should call for your God and ask who He
is.” The Wall said. It looked up in the sky and then shouted,” God help me!
Please God help me!”
The
sounds of a bird’s wings flapping were heard. A tall, brown skinned, sturdily
built, curly haired man, wearing a black suit and tie with bright white wings
on his back; stood in front of the wall. “What is it that you need my friend?”
the man asked in a deep voice. “Are you God?” The Wall asked. “No I am Ram, an
angel and a messenger of God. He has important work to handle.” Ram said. “So I
am not important because I am a non-living being. Am I not His own creation?”
asked The Wall. “You are His creation my friend but if you need any help you
can tell me. I will help you on his behalf.” ”These humans are an abomination.
They only care about themselves and to fulfill their needs they will do
anything just like this man, who relieved on me. They even use God’s name for
this purpose even when they haven’t seen him. Please, you must stop them and
make them realize their foolishness.” The Wall said. “It’s true there are some
humans who are greedy and even use God’s name to fulfill their greed; but that
doesn’t all of them are greedy and that the greedy ones always get what they
want. There are good humans too and these humans will always triumph and get
what they deserve.” Ram said. “Is it so? Then why is this beggar still not
getting what he deserves. I am angry on him for his actions right now, but he is
still a good human. Did he deserve this?” The Wall asked. Ram looked at the
beggar beside him who didn’t seem to know Ram’s presence and even have the
slightest idea that Ram is having a conversation with The Wall. “This man has
lost his will. He has given up on improving on himself and feels that this is
his fate. He doesn’t want to work hard and it is also the only reason why he is
in this situation.” Ram said. “Then wouldn’t you want to help him? Would you
guide him in his path? You surely want to help this good human, don’t you?” The
Wall asked. Ram looked at The Wall and said, “Yes, I will help this man. But I
will guide him for a moment. After that he will be able to guide himself to
success.” said Ram. With his divine power, Ram entered the beggar’s body. The
beggar then looked at The Wall and smiled.
What
will Ram do next? How will he guide the beggar and prove The Wall that the good
always triumph? Stay tuned for the next blog.
