Go Goa Gone Review
For those who have not yet seen the movie (which is not possible
since I am posting this review late) don’t read any further since there will be
some spoilers. Well the title ‘Go Goa Gone’ is catchy even in the short form
(3Gs). This is how I am going to separate my review in the following form:
1.Title:
After hearing the title, one would think, “Hmm.. a movie about people going to Goa. But what’s gone?”

2. Music:
All the songs in the movie are a hit at present, especially “Babaji Ki Booti” and “Slowly Slowly”.

3. Trailer:
The trailer shows that the movie is not only about 3 friends going to Goa, partying hard and enjoying, but also it is about the zombie apocalypse happening on a isolated island and well these friends have to find a way to get off it and survive the zombie horror. Add with it some epic and some vulgar jokes and one of the most memorable dialogues Saif Ali Khan gives. (Oh yes you know it!)

4. What would you expect:
Well usually, every Bollywood film is about the love saga of hero and heroine. The story background is usually just for fooling us to watch the movie (Yes it has happened often in Bollywood!). So what if there are zombies? So what if there are vulgar jokes? This is BOLLYWOOD! Also it’s Goa so you might have some scenes! Acotrs will have some good body built and the actress will be hot hot hot! Now why am I saying this because this is what every typical Indian expects/ wants including those who don’t like Bollywood!

5. Story:
The story begins with 3 friends; Hardik, Luv and Bunny, who go about their daily young lives complaining about the various things that they don’t like especially Monday. Now Luv has a breakup with his cheating girlfriend and wants to find a way to get over it. Hardik loses his job for staying late at night in office and getting caught with a lady friend of his. Bunny gets an opportunity to give a presentation to his client in a 5 star hotel in Goa and thus the trio go to Goa where they meet Luna. So basically the first half of the movie is about introduction and adaption of the characters, how the zombie apocalypse begins due to consumption of drugs (hasn’t been shown in any zombie series, movie, comic or manga as far as I have seen or read!) added with your usual one liners and epic comedy. So far so good. The second half slows the pace of the story and it shows how the characters are adapting to their new environment, learning survival tips, a bit of drama and a small take on Hardik’s past. When the climax is near, the movie picks up pace and by the end the direction goes a bit awry (final battle scene: rocket launcher, too many bullets and cocaine to stop zombies from moving? Although the cocaine idea is a kind of an innovation but it also seems a bit exaggerated!) The comic timing thought doesn’t falter and therefore you won’t think to stop seeing the movie midway!

6. What you get:
Full on entertainment if your into watching movies of different genres. If you think this is a horror movie then stop right there! Go back, refresh your mind and watch this movie as a comedy flick. Serious humor! You just might want the zombie apocalypse to happen in India so that you can keel dead people! No, you don’t get your typical Bollywood movie and that is the best thing ever! EVER! There is no hero trying to save the damsel in distress and then showing off his muscle and body built, just normal civialians trying to survive the apocalypse. (Thank God!)

7. What I liked:
I liked that FINALLY! Bollywood has given a movie of a different genre, they didn’t screw with the zombie factor to some extents and they didn’t screw with the movie itself! (Thank God!) I also liked the camerawork at the beginning of the movie where in they are showing Hardik, Luv and Bunny going to office. Throughout the movie also the camera work is good but in this particular scene it is excellent. Kunal Khemu! You’re absolutely brilliant in this movie! Puja Gupta you’re hot. Didn’t get to see your acting skills though. Next time maybe?

8. How is the movie faring:
I have been following Taran Adarsh’s tweets and the movie isn’t doing well overseas and locally it has done decent business in the box office. The reason could be that it’s a new concept so the audience didn’t adjust to it very well. The movie also (just like any Bollywood movie) is not made for an international audience.

9. Complaints:
Saif’s hair and character is irritating. The movie is about people killing dead, so bore. Another Bollywood shit rises. Similar to Delhi Belly. Zombies eating human gross. Zombieland with Resident Evil ending! These are the comments I saw on a few Facebook pages and some film review sites. I was like “What!”. The recent releases of Aashiqui 2 and Shootout At Wadala might have changed the audience demand for a love story or a realistic story which 3Gs is not! But do I have any complaints? Not really. Just watch this movie!
